Grease 5e (5th Edition) in D&D

Grease 5e is the sort of spell that thrives when a Dungeon Master allows his or her players to use their real-world physics knowledge. With a grease spell, smooth grease is applied to a solid surface. When the spell is cast, all creatures within the area must succeed at their Reflex save or fall. Each time the creature remains within the area on your turn, you must make this save.

Slick grease covers a square of ground centered on a point within range. It will then turn into a dense field for a period of time. Each creature must succeed in a Dexterity saving throw or they will fall prone while this grease 5e appears in their area. There must also be a successful deftness saving throw if a creature enters the area and completes its turn.

A greasy coating can also be created using the delight. When this spell is cast, objects not in use are always precious, whereas objects wielded or employed by creatures must make a Reflex saving throw in order to avoid the effect. Items that fail the saving throw are immediately dropped by the creature..

It does seem like a few DMs want to eliminate spells that do anything other than deal damage. It’s not a situation I agree with, and I find a D&D game that has no harmful spells with the exception of damage dealers to be less fun. Having all spells reduced to just seems to cheapen the game to me. I prefer the broader strategic options.

The fighter and ranger slid the hydra along the greased cave floor like a hockey puck as it struggled to find its footing as they bull-rushed it. With a roar and snap, the mighty hydra careened off the cliff and tipped to the ground below as the warriors skidded to a halt and the edge of the cliff. The creature survived, but it was unable to scale the cliff, and the party exchanged well done, reaching the end of the dungeon in a job well done.

Grease can be extremely effective when handled properly, but it also has some serious limitations that can make it difficult to use to its full potential. You must be aware of a few drawbacks when learning or preparing grease. All are situational disadvantages that force you to research and explore before preparing grease.

D&D

Since enemy combatants can simply walk around greased areas, it can be difficult to use grease effectively, except on lucrative ground. Casting grease with a higher-level spell slot does not increase its power.seful, it would be nice if the spell’s area of effect was increased when casting at a higher level. D&D allows some effects to only activate when creatures move into a space of their own volition, such as opportunity attacks. In Grease, however, these distinctions are not made.
